that just happen to have magic powers. Other than Snap, but Snap had you trapped on a rail and didn't give you the freedom PLA does. And the seamless battle transitions and fact you can move around during battle makes it feel even more real.
Is it perfect? No, not even close. The open world elements are pretty dogshit, not letting you travel freely between areas, needing a literal escort to go to each area. And the cutscenes are excessive, not letting you just go out and explore. And of course, this is Pokemon, so the game is still extremely easy.
But I'd consider the immersion of the game to be good enough that it outweighs the flaws. I'm hoping they refine the formula more and that this won't just be a one-off experiment.
