>>50336008You can want something in a remake but also not have experienced to the fullest it in its original format. I was one of these people, because as a kid I could not get past many of the challenges, especially past the silver symbols. I liked the Battle Pike and the Battle Dome specifically, and I think with gen 6 there were a multitude of improvements that they could have made to the facilities (horde battles in Pyramid/Pike, Triple Battles in the Dome and Factory, and entire rework of the Palace that works off of your Pokemon's characteristics as well as nature, etc).
In 2014, the previous entries of the series with X and Y made Pokemon training more accessible and not a complete slog like it was in previous generations. Many people wanted the Battle Frontier because it was now something that could be experienced in its fullest in a now very streamlined and timely manner.
In 2017 I started my save file of Emerald because I wanted to complete the Battle Frontier. It took me ~350 hours of playtime after the E4 spread across 4 and 1/2 years mostly playing on the weekend to beat it without injecting or any other cheats. Most of the time early on was spent on training various Pokemon that I wanted to bring with me (I barely reused Pokemon in the challenge and I flat out refused to use Swampert and Latios).
