What was the plot of this game?
I just beat it but I didn't read much dialogue because there were so many cutscenes.
Here's what I got:

>foreboding darkness
>energy crisis
...It's just a Brexit allegory, right?

You and your best friend take on the yearly Gym Challenge after being endorsed by the Champion while his childhood best friend and granddaughter of the regional professor researchers the Darkest Day. Eventually the guy with a monopoly over the entire region turns out to be using the third legendary to cause the Darkest Day again to prevent a energy crisis set to happen in the distant future. After teaming up with the wolves you meet in the beginning of the game, you challenge Leon and become Champion.

It's mainly about the protagonist journey through the gym challenges with his best friend hop. While you're having a nice time and meeting friends, Hop slowly realizes that he's a jobber and has an identity crisis.

The energy stuff is just about Rose wanting to find an alternative means of power for the distant future at the expense of nearly wrecking the gym challenge through the darkest day.

Why are you asking /vp/ to spoon feed you the story of a game you just played and then acting like it’s above you to pay attention mate? It is literally the least complicated story- even if you’re not paying attention, surely to god you picked it up from battles etc. Genuinely don’t understand why you wouldn’t just play a clicker game at that point.

So basically there's a Pokemon Soccer tournament in England and that's the entire plot until right before the finals of the tournament.
The entire country runs on the same energy that powers the inflation fetish gimmick, and that energy comes from the evil legendary.
The CEO of the country wants to awaken the evil legendary and have the champion catch it in order to control its energy output and prevent an energy crisis that'll happen in 2000 years.
The champion agrees to this plan, but says that it'll have to wait one (1) day because the finals of the Pokemon Soccer tournament is tomorrow.
The CEO gets so assblasted about this that he awakens the evil legendary, which defeats the champion, and then you and your retarded friend need to find 2 epic doggos to help fight the evil legendary.
You catch it, the day is saved, catching the evil legendary somehow doesn't cut off the energy of the entire country, and you win the Pokemon Soccer Tournament.

Besides the climax there was an ongoing plot. Team A wants to kill everybody and you come into contact with them over and over. Team B wants to stop them. Eventually Team A is on the cusp of getting what they want and you intervene to save the day.
