Pokemon was never good. Because it lacked the fleshed out antagonists of the games. It also lacked the character development of the manga. The series had no real stakes for Ash. Losing a battle is irrelevant and borderline meaningless. Even his goal of pokemon master is too abstract to achieve. So it's basically a bland mess of poorly fleshed out storylines, filler, two dimensional characters and no real plot or character motivations.

This season was the only one that was enjoyable besides DP. Had to switch to subs since I couldn't handle the dub cringe though. Also the league finals ruin a lot of the build up and it makes me think the gen 7 league victory was some big apology for that disappointment.

This arc will always tell me they shafted the Z game in favor of us having SM earlier instead. Whatever a third Kalos game would've added to the experience could've been kino, but instead we'll always be stuck with the very mediocre XY games.

Even at Sub lv. the first two seasons and first three movies were acceptable, but then it became an endless repeating circle especially due to Pokemon Company getting rid of Shudo who was planning to end the series with Pikachu leading an army of pokemon against the humans
Even back at elementary school everyone in class agreed that it was crap tier lv. and that the Digimon anime shat all over it

Kanto era felt like a proper journey with a few filler episodes here and there to spice things up. By the time the Johto era starts, you can tell GF has realized it has this massive cashcow that it now has to milk, so there are tons more filler episodes meant to artificially lengthen the season. It only gets worse from there.
