Why is The Pokemon Company too scared to let them develop a game for the series? They're already owned by Nintendo and it doesn't even have to be mainline, I'll be fine if it's a side game like Colosseum or Gale of Darkness.

Because more external developers means that's even more money that has to be distributed all over the clusterfuck that is the production of a Pokemon game.
Aside from mobile games developed by industry titans or subsidiaries of Megacorps (gotta stay in good favor by letting them have a slice of the PokePie, after all), If TPC can't produce it in-house or through a company that any component of Pokemon is on the verge of assimilating into its house, they're not gonna bother.

Why is monolith soft the company everyone picks to push projects onto. Just because they helped with BOTW doesnt suddenly mean their purpose as a company is to develop games for other people. They have their own project theyre working on and theyre busy with that

TPC wants one mainline game per year cause muh schedule, merch, anime etc.
Monolith may be far more competent than Gamefreak, but making games of this scale every year and not turn out like a typical nuBethesda tittle is impossible.
Basically bringing in Monolith isn't enough to save Pokemon.
