it's funny that the only time anime geodude doesnt float is when the plot demands it on the st. anne shipwreck episode, when brock sends out geodude it fucks up the balance of the sinking ship for being too heavy

They never floated. They are always described as being low on the ground, mistaken for boulder and rolling around.
Pokemon anime is not cannon. In the games touched by 3D cancer, they "float" just like the fish Pokemon "float".

In PLA a woman uses Geodude as pickling stone. So they probably can stop floating anytime they want and when they do they weight a bunch.

That quest was so dumb. Why couldn't she just find a rock? So she's just going to set that Geodude on that pot and force it to sit there for months on end for the rest of its life? Kind of messed up desu.
