To advertise Charizard, that's literally it.
OLM fucked up by bringing back Charizard in Unova because it meant they spent their nostalgia card too early, so they had to make up Alain and the Mega Evolution Specials to justify Mega Charizard X being a main Pokemon somewhere and eventually hamfisting him into Ash's journey so the Mistake Frog can get BURASTO'd.
