They wanted to challenge you to pick out good, varied movesets. But they obfuscated it behind your pokemon's "feelings" so it's impossible to figure it out on your own.
Read a wiki and learn how it works. You should be able to at least get the silver medal no problem when you attack every turn.

Natures shouldn't fucking exist. Neither should IVs. The way they do HAs is stupid as well. HAs should just be something you unlock in the late game instead of some stupid bullshit where you have to use the online component. EVs should also be heavily simplified once postgame starts and the amount of grinding and berry planting required to get EVs to an optimum level shouldn't be a thing. You should be able to optimize your EV spread immediately after beating the game. Sadly GF has been retarded since 1999.

You're supposed to prepare your Pokemon ahead of time with Natures that correspond to quality movesets. That way your NPC Pokemon can perform optimally without your direct input. I think it's a cool idea. But no kid is ever going to understand how this shit works without a comprehensive guide. And most people in general would rather have full control of their team instead of watching stuff happen.

nta and while I disagree with the idea that the battle frontier shouldn't have returned, palace is a fundamentally flawed premise. it cranks rng up way too high in a place where you have to do the same thing over and over again to get a reward, without losing once.

Yeah maybe you could unlock some mini games and each one would give out specific EVs. Maybe something like shooting balloons of Pokemon that give those EVs.

The temple is shit, yes, but most other facilities are god-tier.

Especially the pyramid and pike.
Tower and stadium are great as well.

Factory is okay.
Only the dojo and the temple are meh.

Replace the temple with the gen 4 battle frontier Arcade and upgrade the stadium to the B2W2 PWT for the ultimate battle frontier.

I like Hoenn too, but this is rewriting history. People HATED Hoenn Victory Road since it required far too many HMs, was confusing to navigate, and if you were playing RS you'd have the double battle with Ace Trainer's Katelynn and Quincy and the battle with Wally back to back, so you're fucked if you didn't carry healing items with you. Luckily, they fixed the last complaint in Emerald by inserting the Wally Battle at the start instead. The Hoenn region is well connected and the routes are very fun, but the RSE Victory Road was ass.
