Yeah, it was pretty bad. More linearization, piss easy, story is horribly written with the plot making no sense and the characters being bland and underdeveloped, post-game facilities aren't very fun because of the shitty EV training and breeding. There's not much of a reason to come back to DPPt.

I liked the Battle Hall. Out of the many facilities that they introduced, I felt like it was a clear stand-out from the rest with the Battle Factory in 3. But yeah, 6+ really stand out in the post-game department because it actually feels reasonable to breed and raise your pokemon.

Sinnoh's map was so cumbersome that it led to subsequent games becoming guided tours (because kids kept getting lost)
DP was delayed and still ran slower than RSE
Multiplayer was extremely limited, and PBR was basically required if you wanted to have decent matches online
Fog was a dreadful weather condition, and added another HM to the pile
Snow and Mud that slow your movement speed down in a game that's already slow
Galatic Grunts using high level Wurmples lol
Battle Zone was pretty lightweight after Kanto in GSC or the Hoenn Battle Frontier or even the Sevii Isles

Still a fun game to play with friends

There's no reason to revisit any game.
Gen 1's archaic, Gen 2's archaic AND has its own issues, Gen 3 brings nothing of interest, Everyone's already went over Gen 4 ad nauseum, Gen 5 is too samey between BW and B2W2 (plus BW's lacking Pokedex), Gen 6 is forgettable and easy to rush through, Gen 7 has exposition dumps and story out the ass you can't skip, and Gen 8 is more of what Gen 7 did.

If Sinnoh was harder, and it didn't lean so heavily on Kanto references, it would be an amazing experience. As it is, though, it's merely enjoyable. And no, I'm not blaming Kanto for Sinnoh deciding to just copy cave encounters 1-1, or for handing out a Chansey, or for having more Kanto legends in its dex as filler content. These are all Sinnoh's fault.

Facts:
Kinnoh games: DP, Platinum, BDSP, PLA. So good it gets four.
Kalos: XY. Quickly buried.
Kinnoh would be the highest selling post-pokemania generation until the Switch era.
Kalos has a statue built in honor of Lucario and guarantees Lucario is your first mega. Looker is also in the game. Kalos does have an identity of paying respect to its superiors, as shown by the Viridian Forest clone as well.
Kinnoh always ranks good on the polls. Kalos never does.
Cynthia? Popular. Diantha? LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Kalos shillmons flop while Piplup and Lucario still draw dimes.
Infernape? Beats its rival with Type:Wild blasting. Greninja? Kneels to Charizard.

Mega Lucario was introduced in Kalos. Lucario itself isn't even obtainable in the wild until Flocessy Ranch in BW2 (or the HGSS Safari Zone, if you count that). In Sinnoh you get Lucario as a gift for chauffeuring an NPC named Riley around an optional dungeon (Iron Island). Yet another Gen 4 Pokemon that was shafted so that the Sinnoh region could honour GEODUDE and ONIX.

Agreed. That's why I love the Sinnoh games. Have you ever seen how large Infernape's moveset is? You can run it in so many ways ingame. Lucario too. DP has mons like Mismagius and Stunktank, both pretty cool to use in their own ways while Platinum has more cross-evos like Gallade and Magmortar, and who can forget the Grand Underground pokemon BDSP?

Not reading that but most of platinum's sins come from being the deluxe version of some of the shittiest mainline games in the series. If we look at it in terms of things it added it's great. If we look at it as a whole, it's just better DP. Which still isn't great.

Hippowdon is more memorable than Greninja? Aegislash? Goodra? Hawlucha? Tyrantrum? Qwilfish must be a very memorable Pokemon, since its encounter rate in GSC is only 1% outside of swarms.
