Red, Blue/Green and Lance have to be in it, because of Kantooo. Cynthia is one of the most iconic and popular champions, and they have put her in several regions. Leon because he is supposed to be the strongest ever (even if his team is shit), Iris so you have the loli and Mustard so you have the typical "old man that is super strong". Gen 9 guy because obvious reasons.
Steve and Diantha would not apply because they are more interested in real hobbies and job rather than battling (Cynthia in theory would be the same but she is shown to like to travel and battle while she is at it).
Wallace is shit, N would be against his character and Hilbert/Hilda are missing.
Nate/Rosa would be a good 8th entry (specially Rosa as she is popular, but GF would rather use a new character to shill their new games).
Kukui is not a real champ, and Hau is a loser. Lilie/Gladio are busy with other thibgs rather than become a master.
Gen 6+ main characters wouldn't apply because they are customizable.
So that's realistically who would be in taking GF autism into account
