This thread is full of seethe over the Johto video and catalog spam.
Jan has said time and again that his playstyle is not for everyone, and encourages people to play Pokemon and Pokemon challenge runs the way that they want to.
Jan has been uploading Nuzlocke videos for years. He had a following before he reacted to Jaiden's Nuzlockes and Jaiden really liked Jan's video. She put Jan in two of her own videos.
Jan only calls himself a professional Nuzlocker because he makes money off of his videos and streams, which are primarily about Nuzlockes. He does not say this without a hint of irony, however. He's not that much of a douche.
>>50379173This post is just stupid.
>Nuzlockes aren't meant to be some "ultra hard" challenge.Nuzlockes were originally conceived as a way to make the game more interesting. They can have as many clauses as the player wants in the interest of shaking things up.
>they're just a simple None of the rules Jan uses for himself are complex. The only notable addition to the standard generalized ruleset he uses is that he cannot level past the highest level of the Gym Leader's best Pokemon. The other rule about not using items in battle is advocated for on /vp/ by people who don't even know who Jan is. That's because everyone who regularly plays Pokemon games knows that items trivialize the fights. Even Game Freak knows this, which is why you can't use them in Link Battles.
>and funIf Jan didn't enjoy playing this way, he wouldn't do it and he wouldn't have any followers, or people who seek to emulate this playstyle.
>Removing the element of surprise with minmaxing defeats the entire purpose of the concept.Pokemon encounters are largely static throughout the first four generations. Over time, there is no more element of surprise. That aside, making the best of what you rolled for the route is just common sense. It has nothing to do with the initial surprise of getting that monster.
