>>50382490I'm gonna play Devil's Advocate and agree that Clair was hard. Most wild Pokemon around Blackthorn were around Level 23-27, so grinding was horrible. Kingdra only had one weakness, and it was to Dragon. The only Dragon you could get is Dratini, if you knew where to get it. It would start out at level 20, so have fun training it.
Then you had the Ice types. You had Dewgong, Lapras, Sneasel, Piloswine, Delibird and Jynx. Sneasel wasn't that good at the time. Dewgong was meh. Piloswine, two of Clair's mon had counters and all of them were faster than Piloswine. Delibird is a shitmon. Jynx and Dewgong are good choices, but Jynx had a 5-10% encounter rate. And even then, you'd have to levelgrind them up.
During the match, Clair's Pokemon could paralyze yours to fuck you up, while Kingdra could spam Smokescreen to protect it while it recharged from Hyper Beam. You could outlast her if you had healing items, but it would take a while.
