>>50387054>What is your opinion on Game Freak doing a very soft rebootPoor. For years every other game Game Freak put out was a soft reboot. The reason so many people were pissed off until recently
lots of people still seem mad, but the vitriol seems to have waned in the months since PL:A's release, granted that might just be my limited perspective due to not engaging with /vp/ as often as I used to was because Pokemon continued to do that soft reboot thing instead of refining what all came before in the same vein as games like DPPt and BW/2.
Even if the next reboot was the reboot to end them all, it would still be exhausting to have yet another one. However, I'll say this, I'm open to having types redone because I think some Pokemon would benefit from stuff like that. Or ability changes. Or stat redistribution/stimulus.
>>50387196If one prefers the original's appearance to the regional's appearance, then the original has value in the same vein as a "skin". However, because this skin has different stats and a different type, they won't get the same practical value out of using their preferred appearance. So the idea behind fixing the originals is to just make them more practical to use in some niche or another.
This is not an unusual concept. Yu-Gi-Oh! openly acknowledges that power creep has left older cards obsolete and regularly prints retrains and support cards for fan favorites that would be unusable in modern formats, competitively or otherwise.
