With JN, it's clear even the staff is bored of him and wants absolutely nothing to do with the fucker, with how much focus was on Goh the whole time. He's a boring, old character who has literally nowhere left to go, character development wise. With this saga, they'll even have to invent some new goal for him, because he'll be the 'strongest trainer'.
He's obviously not being retired, but he SHOULD be.
