>>50402852I think most (not all) of these are valid complaints mostly for the reason that they remove agency from the player. I also prefer the more succinct dialogue of GS, it feels much cooler when characters say exactly what they need to say.
Don't get me wrong, if all this stuff was optional, I'd still do it in the order it becomes available (and on replays I'd try saving as much as possible until the end), much like how I'll always do Sprout Tower in Gen II. It's just unfortunate that this stuff is mandatory because it's indicative of the direction Pokémon would go. Still, HGSS has so much cool stuff that I would have loved seeing in the originals like a Giovanni event, the Kanto Legendaries and fossils, a full phone directory, a Safari Zone, Gym Leader rematches, restored areas in Kanto, following Pokémon, along with brand new cool stuff like the Pokéwalker, new events, the GB Sounds (would have been better if they included it earlier in the game), new routes, etc. They even managed to include most of Crystal's content.
