Then, it looks like the first generational releases of games starting with generation 2 all pretty much racked up the same amount of sales revenue, proving literally nobody thinks any particular generation is "better" than another.
If you look at the revamped generational copies and compare those (so gen 1-4 remakes), the remakes of generations 3 and 4 both collected 14m compared to the generation 1 and 2 at 13m each, so generation three and four both come out superior in terms of all generations with both original releases and remakes.
Sequels all collected the lowest revenue. Which basically shows only a certain, but still large enough, audience gives a shit about exploring every aspect of pokemon since sequels are basically excuses to add more pokemon to the Dex and build upon plot.
So, in conclusion: everyone shut the fuck up; generation 1 and 2 suck ass and generation 3 and 4 kick the most ass until remakes of gen 5 and higher come along.
