Maybe in gens 3 and 4 where almost nothing had a good ability, but look at all of the best mons now.
Incineroar, Zacian, Kyogre and Groudon, Grimmsnarl, Thundurus, Calyrex, Eleki, Charizard, Landorus-T.
The highest ranking mon that I think would still get usage without its ability is Eleki, and even then, it wouldn't get nearly as much. Transistor gives it much-needed offensive pressure and makes it go from a really good speed control mon to an absolute menace.
