So after all these years I'm still confused... Are Pokémon the "animals" of the Pokémon world or are there still separate, regular animals like cats and dogs and shit?
Like, I would expect instead of for example regular cats or dogs people would just have a pet Purrsian or a Houndoom or whatever but I remember in the early anime I think Ash's mom had a regular real world cat...
Have they addressed this over the years? Like are there still regular real world critters or have they retconned it to Pokémon are the animals?
Do the people eat Magikarp and hunt Stantlers etc. Or are there real world counterparts in the lore these days?
