I know the feeling. Sun and moon had a lot of pacing problems, but they were still enjoyable games. Hopefully the next games can bring you as much joy. Sword and Shield definitely couldn’t.

Other things such as concurrent life events during the release of SM, weird pandemic shit (i.e., the 'longest' two years in recent history), or coming to grips with entering their 40s soon could've had a compounding effect on their nostalgia or produced nostalgia-like feelings.

I often have nostalgia-like feelings for something from seven years ago when my life was DRASTICALLY different from now.

Same, man. SM soundtrack just makes me feel the feels like nothing ever has.
I am hoping with every fiber of my being that the next or one of the next Nintendo consoles is a 3DS successor with a shit screen.
The damn thing had one of the comfiest game libraries ever and because the Wii U was a mess and how it wasn't graphically demanding, it got great games very often that could focus on quality content instead of visuals.

Now we have BDSP and Rune Factory 5 looking like asshole because the series didn't adapt to high resolutions.
