Gen 1: I appreciate the replay value of those games and the fun bugs. It's also the gen I liked the least from the first five.

Gen 2: What I love the most is the overall feel: both the artistic direction and the soundtrack is truly timeless. Ultimate comfy and nostalgic games. The mechanics aged a bit so you can miss some qol improvements.

Gen 3: Adventure and nature. Hoenn is the most diverse region and it gives a real sense of exploration. Many top tier pokémon designs from this gen. No day/night cycle is a big problem.

Gen 4: this gen brought the ultimate classic pokémon experience, wifi, great soundtrack and some nice graphical improvement. A lot of content. I don't really think they could have improved platinum in any way than it was at the time. Now of course we have rom hacks.

Gen 5: this gen made me leave pokémon but when I went past the prejudice I found the best story and characters in the series, a pair of sequels with near infinite content, and a lot of care especially in the soundtrack. They really tried to make a good jrpg without relying on old designs. Some of the unova pokémon are the worst in the series.

I'm eager to know what you guys love about the first five gens and what you think they could have done better. All the soundtracks are incredible, and the designs too. From xy and onward I felt it wasn't pokémon anymore: but all good things end someday. So I want to appreciate what the games offered when GF cared. I have so much nostalgia...
