Did people seriously think that we wanted Typhlosion to have its flames on all the time? I thought everyone understood that it almost never has its flame outside of battle and that the issue was that it didn’t have them during battle. It’s flame works like porcupines and other mammals making their quills/hair go up when fighting or excited. It flame isn’t like CHARIZARD’s pilot light.

Gen 4 and 5 were such a bad era for sprites too. Instead of using the actual on-model, canon colors, they reused the freaking the neon palettes from the GBA era. You know the console that wasn't backlit and needed to have the colors as bright as possible.
I'm glad they moved on to 3D if it means less off-model terrible sprites.

The fact that they needed animated Idles made them have to cut some cool dynamic looking poses, I always use this example cause I always ended up raising a Linoone in Gen 3, and a lot of Gen 3 romhacks decided to use the new sprite for it, for some reason

This one is a mess. The BW sprite looks like it tries to replicate the old look with a newer, ugly as sin green, but everything around it will be the newer look of Pokemon that's been developed through the DS era. Right makes it more graceful and it's fitting what everything looks like now. Seriously, that fucking green on the left though is so bad.

Pokémon stadium 2 had hitmontop's idle animation balancing on his head. There's no excuse. The you need to understand existence of Pokémon stadium really really makes gamefreak look that much more incompetent.

He's called hitmontop, because he spins and balances on his head like a fucking top. The only reason hitmontop is on his feet is because animating him otherwise for the stuff outside of battles and even in battles for the anime would too much work. However in game this shouldn't be a problem because animating him in game would just be reusing assets. No need for whether or not he needs too be animated to do specific things. Also his main thing is caiporera, and the signature move of that is flipping and being upside down and break dancing, it makes less since for him to be doing fighting styles that are anything but Caiporera. So again the fact that Pokémon stadium made it work gives them no excuse to as to why they couldn't make it work. It's a good thing at least chose to give him the idle motion of basic Caiporera or else they'd be really chewed the fuck put on there shit.
