I finally started a playthrough of PC after it being reccomended to multiple times as the "go to Crystal hack" and I dropped it the moment I saw Lyra. Literally fucking why? I don't get it. And a bunch of dialog was changed as well for no fucking reason. And some routes randomly use Unova music and the battle theme for Lyra is the XY rival theme? Like sure, it's impressive from a technical standpoint, but it's just a mix mash of random features to appeal to dopamine-fried zoomers. Not my thing at all and fuck anyone who shills hacks like that.

That's fair and valid. It doesn't seem like it affects anything to me, but I can understand that it changes the mood for others. If you haven't tried it, take a look at sour crystal. Really lovely, reserved romhack. Totally replaces the original for me

I never really understood the appeal to this game. It's fun in theory but I got bored immediately. Without the story and limited progression you're basically just here to enjoy battles, which are not great in this gen in the first place.

the best hacks of crystal are the ones that fix the level scaling, gym leader teams, and pokemon availability, and nothing else. That's kind of a lot of things but they're all relatively easy changes that someone with basic hacking programs could manage. I've done it with gen 3 at least.
