Growlithe and Arcanine reside near an active volcano, instead of the grasslands whete they are usually found or inside a mansion in Gen 1. Their exposure to volcanic rock and the spiritual energy of Mount Coronet in the region caused changes to their bodies.
These Pokémon are also inspired by komainu statues, as in rock. Again, connected to the spiritual nature of Hisui.
