If you enjoyed gen 6 and 7 and can find a good price with the DLC, they're decent games. Not really good, but as fun as any other weaker first pair.

Nta but anything past 5 is terrible but I love how easy it is to play VGC now. I started competitive with 8 and it's very streamlined. I could care less about anything else

SM are definitely better, but I would say DLC SwSh is about at the same level as XY ignoring the dex cut, which most people do. My main point was that they're all similarly designed, at least in the single-player.
