Big companies make it a point not to look at fanart. Or at least, not officially. The problem is that if they make something that happens to resemble a piece of obscure fanart, the artist can claim it was stolen. So companies have a strict "don't even look at fan designs" policy that they can use to defend themselves in court with.

In the second one, a fan posted this concept art for "Gaia weapons". Then like half a year later, the game officially comes out with extremely similar items that are also called "Gaia weapons". There was a huge fuss about it and legal action was threatened, but it was settled quietly out of court so we don't really know how it turned out. But it's exactly the kind of thing corporations are trying to avoid with the "never look at fan concepts" mandate. The Valorant team almost certainly never saw the fanart, but happened to design something similar enough that the artist could make a reasonable argument they did. The mandate is so they can argue "our employees never look at fanart, because that's one of our strict rules" if something like this happens.
