xy is shit and it always has been. coming from the disaster of BW people wanted something different from pokemon, anything as long as it was not another BW, and when people saw how different xy looked(literally the animation style) people thought that it was different but in reality, it was not it was just as bad just in different ways. I will not lie it looks fine, good even(animation) but the story and characters are horrendous its story and plot are all over the place. from its start, it was already changing the past with the camp flash back forcefully injecting a new plot from a new character into that of already established old characters. serenas crush was doomed from its start if she had developed it throughout the series it would have felt natural but instead, it's her apparent only reason for doing anything for the first 25% of the series. because of this, her character suffers greatly due to the lack of personal growth and goal/focus although not always, when her and ash are on the screen together the viewers first thought is not of what she has done but is that of what she will do next because of ash, this takes focus away from that of her and redirects it to the of ash(this is still something that we can see happing recently). her non-existent personality does not help her case she has been shown to have many skills but was never shown to have developed said skills everything outside her main goal(the showcases) she was already perfect at the definition of a mary sue. many of her interactions felt unnatural.
The groups dynamic was also poor while there was interaction between ash to celemont, and to serena, and serena to bonnie there was little interaction between that of serena and clemont and ash and bonnie. with out ash there the group would have most likely not been friends and don't feel like it even with him there.

(2/3)Ash himself got the most drastic change from anything that we have ever seen from series changes while in BW he was reset he was still the same loveable idiot that we have seen in series past just completely incompetent. his xy self acts completely out of character from that we have already seen his actions are robotic and his personality is stiff and emotionless (not focused and cold) he gives advice and speaks with dialogue that no ash would have ever said in the past, his new strategy is to "hit it very hard" and hope that the plot is strong enough to get him through.

Saying this as someone who never liked or cared about Lillie, Lusamine, or Mohn (Gladion has always been cool tho), the episode today was pure fucking kino. Great animation, well directed, minimal use of Ash and Goh.. It was perfect. I got choked up at the group hug.

That being said, I'm not as excited for next week's episode. I'd really rather just get straight to the Project Mew action instead of tooling around in Alola.

(3/3)As for the over-arcing story we have 2 the team flare arc and the league with the two interconnecting in its final parts. team flare for the most part was portrayed similar to their game parts but a lot more connected within poke-society they have great connections and a surprising arsenal of weapons. unfortunately, the story plot scrambles their goals and eps thought out the series in a way that makes little sense with the introduction of "spuishy" in the latter parts of the series. in addition to this, we are introduced to "alain" through a special where he is portrayed as kinda a "hitman" for team flare and his reasoning behind this is "why not" later he is forced into as ashs rival even though the story builds up baseder as his main rival. finally the kalos league and all the build-up that surrounded it took a big fat steaming smelly foul blue and black edgy SHIT all over the fans they had to Indore the series xy at the very end, giving the win to alain a fanfiction tier self insert for the author.
Almost for got about ash greninja. AG was literal fanfiction tier writing by the writer there was no preexisting lore in having anything similar like that happen, why not just give ash a Lucario like in the games? it was the series to do it in it all that would have made sense. but no he created something that had no reason to ever exist and because of it there was great repercussion in the series, it took 6 years for them to retcon and remove the damage he did to pokemon and we can only hope and pray that the learned their lesson. pokemon xy appears from the outside to be a new take on the pokemon world a look into it that we have never been given before but upon further inspection and examination xy is nothing more than glorified shitty fanfiction 3.5/10

Blonde hair isn't necessarily inherited directly from the parents, it has to be in the DNA lineage of both parents for a child to "activate the gene" (by a non-100% chance) but it isn't necessary for both or any parents to have blond hair, it's just that both parents need to have such ancestry so that THEIR parents/grandparents/etc. have the blonde hair gene on both sides somewhere in the family tree.

Bros, i've seen the episode last night, and i'm surprised by the amount of animation and writing quality.

That's a lot of quality for a single chapter, but my favorites as a whole is is how well animated was the lusamine broke into tears and hugged mohn when he remembers and lillie and nihiliego scene.
The lusamine one actually made me feel, specially knowing how she thought mohn had a daughter with another woman before, makes me realize how hard it was for her to lose her husband.

The episode was just so high quality, like everything, the piano scene now THAT was unexpected, credit to, ugh, Tomiyasu for stuff. I respect classical music. The animation detail was unironically movie tier kino, you could tell that a lot of heart was put into this but haven't I been saying the opposite for a lot of time? and I really like the scene where Lillie smiles at the Utsuroid Pokemon, the smile got me into the kokoro and I don't know how to feel about it. It felt like I was watching an episode of Eureka7 or sth.
This makes me look like the "Utsuroid" from the episode, hahaha, it's just scary to be captured by the Pokeball of Sun and Moon...

Believe it or not, a sizable proportion of SMfags actually agree that the art for it wasn't the best. Many SMfags said they enjoyed SM despite the art, not because of it. You even have cases of people disliking SM at first because of how Ash looked as well as the posters, but after giving it a chance they came to like it.

It's small things like those that make me hate PM.
They decide to do things like things like this that if you went back to 2010 and told anyone the anime was gonna do that they'd call you crazy but always have to fuck it up one way or another with things like that, or even worse.
And honestly when you think about it, the Lillie episode "fuck up" was minimal in comparison to all the other "cool thing but is tarnished for 10 reasons so it comes out looking half-assed as fuck" this season does left and right like if its life depended on it. Probably the same reason why half the episode was a gag episode about how to prevent Serena and Ash from meeting-up and having any sort of substantial interaction.

Meanwhile this episode has kino music, kino animation, kino cinematography, was extremely emotional, personal, and satisfyingly concluded an storyline from a previous season in a happy manner. Furthermore, this was an storyline that in none of the other Pokemon media in which it has appeared concluded with a happy ending, which it finally got for the first time here.
Why are you pretending they're the same at all in any way shape or form is beyond me.

Quality. Most of the DP episodes looked like shit, while the Lillie episode clearly got good production (it is probably the best looking episode since the early portion of PM). Just compare the production in this episode to the 25th anniversary special and it is obvious what series they favored.

Also it isn't a surprise too since most the new staff came abroad starting in SM. It is natural for writers to favor their own work.

Maybe the only obvious favoritism is the animation quality between those episodes. For example, the lillie one have beautiful animation, the serena one had it's moments, but the worst scene was serena performance.
But lillie story arc resolution is a much more important character arc, so i totally understand.

Serena's return was the only one not promoted by previews. It did get promoted by a magazine article, but said article came out just hours before the episode and most Japanese fans weren't even aware of it. Meanwhile the magazine articles for Dawn, the Lemons, Iris, etc. were all out weeks before their episodes, while the first Alola return was spoiled by the 2nd OP. The fact that it's only Serena's return they tried to hide while they were open with the others showed that they were giving her return "special" treatment too.

I honestly never understood what their game was here. If they really disliked her that much, they could've taken the much simpler route and simply not shown her at all, rather than taking the time to make a whole episode about her progress as a character and as a performer. There were way more insulting ways of doing the episode as well, but they didn't take either of those paths.
Honestly, the only real objection Serenafags had was that she didn't have a long reunion with Ash, but I don't even blame them for not wanting to touch upon the kiss. Overall, it wasn't anywhere near as good as Lillie's episode, but it was still decent.
Which makes it even weirder that rather than loudly promoting an episode they clearly put some effort into, they didn't bother to promote it at all, and then remained silent even afterwards.

I have a feeling the lack of promotions was a last-minute decision. Remember that originally the Team Rocket radio episode was supposed to air after the Lemons epsiodes, not Serena's episode. In fact, the magazine releases reflect this: the Team Rocket magazine article came before Serena's magazine, despite the two episodes switching airdates. Sure that doesn't fully explain why the Twitter remained silent about Serena, but my point is that the decision to hide Serena was probably done at the last minute and it was too late to plan accordingly.
