Why do Rain teams make people seethe so hard in competitive? Rain isn't even broken anymore. Rain is weaker than it has ever been in the past 13 years, and yet people still rage about it.

The team style is honestly mid after losing megapert and greninja, it just seems better than it is because it's practiced. Players are already comfortable with using really similar team structures. Someone who's played hundreds of games using a structure of pelipper+ferro+fast water type cleaner+flying type pivot+ground swift swimmer/offensive rocker+ wildcard over hundreds of games is going to play more skillfully than someone whos playing with a team structure that they are less familiar with. Thus they win more, and both players walk away from the experience thinking that rain must be super good, when it's actually not and it just won due to a difference in experience.
Honestly, I think that kind of describes smogon in general. Because of results-based analysis and the low stakes of competition players tend to gravitate mostly to what they are good at or what wins (which also may not actually be the best team, but rather what the best player is good at). Because people play the same shit over and over again they get better at it, and see better results with it even over theoretically better teams. Which is why the same antiquated boring copypasta fatshit balance and landotran B.O. from fucking ORAS is still somehow 99% of what tourneyfags play in SS OU and why I can play Gen7OU high ladder in year of our lord 2022 and people are still playing the same exact landomagwater and kokolucha from 2017.

Yes, and it also abuses the shit out of its own rain.
Water Spout in the rain is busted. Especially with specs if you have the speed control to ensure you get the first hit.
It's basically the whole reason Gastrodon is so good.

It's not like Smogon never adapts.
It's just that it takes years, sometimes even decades, for them to adapt.
My favorite example of this is that they've only recently realized that Porygon has a niche in gen 1 because it can clown on Snorlax.

It is actually good, though. Not perfect, it has a lot of counters, but with the banning of Kyurem to Ubers, there is no real good blanket counter. You have to dedicate multiple Pokemon on your team to counter Rain, since if you only pack one (eg Rillaboom, Zeraora, or Volcanion) and it gets KO'd, you lose the match.

I actually just started using the archetype right after Crown Tundra dropped. I don't have a lot of practice, but I still can easily reach 1700 with the archetype before absolutely perfect min/maxed teams ruin me.

Yes but only when banded. M-Swampert hits nearly as hard while having way better bulk (it's nearly twice as durable), way better utility, and not being locked into one move. Barraskewda is easy to predict and can be blocked with easy, common immunities. M-Swampert doesn't need to run band to absolutely annihilate things in the rain, and it can easily switch in due to huge bulk and Electric immunity.

A-Ninetales is the best weather setter in OU. It also completely shits on rain by OHKO'ing with Freeze Dry. It's a 50/50 chance whether it'll get up dual screens or OHKO your Pelipper. It also completely dicks on Zapdos and Toad.

Barry's great but we will probably never have a better swift swimmer than mega pert. It's not just power, it's bulk, typing, roll compression, everything. Rain was probably at its best in gen 7, but it's still good now.

That's not true at all.
Sand only lasts 5-8 turns. That's not much chip.
Sand Rush is the main reason to have a dedicated sand team. Although Ttar is good enough on its own that sand is just a nice side efffect.
