>>50505251Earlier in the franchise, it was a concrete goal, if he wins the Pokemon League, he becomes the Pokemon Master. That's why the anime always had to have him lose in the end, even to the point where they had to throw that goober with the legendaries at him when he got too powerful and a second time with Alain for the same reason.
Now, he could probably win them all and start collecting trophies like crazy and they'll probably never bring up the fact that used to be his ultimate goal.
>>50505307Ehhh, some of us oldfags would probably be a little upset since having the Pokemon anime without Ash is like having a Justice League cartoon made up of B-list supers, he's been in the anime so long it'd feel weird without him.
Honestly though, it wouldn't be that bad, we've already seen Ash start a new gen, fail a lot, get better, have some emotional evolutions along the way, reach the league and lose, what, 7+ times now over the course of like 25 years?
IMO, the anime could probably take a break and go with Go(u) for a gen or two, just for the Pokemon GO angle and focus on the catching, social aspects, and sheer NUMBER of Pokemon for once, as opposed to watching Ash catch 6-10 Pokemon per season.
