The point is someone stumbles upon it and shares. With the amount of copies, it's not unthinkable someone happened to be scrolling through their inventory and saw the Peat Block could evolve Ursaring.

Then they'll backtrack and try to piece together what they did, with community help.

Literally how would you have known that you're meant to trade Kadabra, Machoke, Graveler and Haunter to evolve them? Who's gonna want to trade non-version exclusives? The only way would have been to get them to level 100 and notice that they still haven't evolved, and even then how would you have been guaranteed to know you're meant to trade them?

The game tells you Machoke evolve though trading in Celadon I think, or one of them. From that you're meant to work out the other three which is obvious when you know nothing else works

Clueless zoomers, video games had way more complicated easter eggs and secrets before the internet was even mainstream, and people stiff figured them out. The internet just made people lazy.

NPCs actually hint towards a lot of things, but everyone ignores NPCs.
An NPC gives a pretty big hint on how to encounter Regigigas in ORAS. But he's in Pacifilog Town and what he says seems really random.

New Pokemon generations have this problem of making arbitrary evolution gimmicks for one Pokemon. Milcery, Inkay and especially Galarian Yamask are some of the worst examples. Trading is no better, but at least the method's simple enough to carry it across multiple generations. But I just wish more Pokemon simply evolved by level up, it's a much more rewarding progress.

It's funny how they set up the whole mossy rock, magnetic rock and icy rock system only to replace them with evolutionary stones come gen 8 because they couldn't be bothered to follow that system any more.
