Why was BDSP released incomplete? Was the game really not finished in time? Or was the game size just too big for the cartridge size they chose, so it couldn't fit?

Maybe they just took out stuff they could justify putting in a day one patch to get it under 4GB so they could use a cheaper SD card.

Except that copies printed after launch include v1.1.0-1.2.0 on the cartridge already. I’m moreso leaning towards them either rushing the game or printing the games before the day 1 patch was ready.

Remember when armchair developers were ecstatic of modding BDSP, after discovering it being built on Unity?

Where are the mods? I still don't see all 905 creatures in the game.

GameFreak has shown multiple times they could absolutely include all Pokémon, but they're just faggots. this is where we are now

yup, 1.1 is the most important patch (actually finishes the game and post-game content) so having it on-cart is good for people with limited internet access or the long future when the servers go down, though homebrew’ll be cracked open by then

This is something I found strange about the movecut. 90% of balance changes over the past few generations have been due to their dominance in doubles (Intimidate nerf, prankster nerf, mega kangaskhan nerf, etc.), so what motivated them to make those changes to pursuit and return? Afaik they don't have a doubles niche, and they aren't even centralizing in the manmade singles formats

Is there a way to know in advance if the BDSP copy you're going to buy is 1.0 or 1.1.1? There must be some way to know in advance, so you don't end up buying 1.0 by accident.

you need to look at the cartridge first, there’s a code printed on the back indicating what revision it is. unpatched games typically end in A000, while my patched copy ended in A001
