Gen 2 feels way too easy

I'm replaying Crystal after beating Yellow and the whole game feels so rushed. I'm already destroying everything with a lv30 Kingler and got all useful HMs in the same amount of time it took me to get to Lavender Town in Yellow.

I guess moves being shittier makes the main story a bit more difficult. Crystal still has the Battle Tower as a proper endgame. R/B/Y only had Pokemon Stadium R2 as a true Endgame.

one thing I loved about Gen II as a kid is that I could turn my Gator into a HM Whore and then breed a new one for Stadium 2's Baby Cup with Hydro Pump and Ancient Power being passed down by a Omanyte.

I miss grinding pokemon levels and collecting the one use TMs like EQ and Psychic just to transfer my "competitive" mons to Stadium 2 and then start all over again with a new game.

I still don't understand why Gold required 150 pokemons in the dex to start taking back Pokemon from the Stadium 2 boxes while Red had no restrictions.
