Something like Alakazam on the other hand is not just an animal shaped like a human it is a completely made up creature that just happens to be bipedal
Even Machoke technically fits this which is why it actually seems less anthropomorphized than the gen 8 starters

Cinderace is a rabbit MORPHED to be more like a human
Inteleon is a chameleon MORPHED to be more like a human
What is Alakazam? It's nothing it's made up. It can't undergo any morphing because it was already like that to begin with. Therefore it can't be anthropomorphic.

Is Alakazam a goat or a fox? You can say it has features of both so in the end the resemblance is only very loose. Its entire body does not bare a particular resemblance to a human or an animal if anything it looks occult or mythological at best. This is why the bipedal mons in gen 1 worked better because they truly followed the aesthetic of being general "monsters" as the name of the entire franchise implies. But does Cinderace seem more like a "monster" than an anthropomorphized rabbit?

Alakazam is in the minority as far as Gen 1 designs are concerned. It’s one of the few things in the get that’s its own made up monster as opposed to an existing mythological creature or an existing kaiju or ultraman character. With that said, its biggest defining bases are Uri Geller and Baphomet.

Alright in what way does Alakazam look like a human?
The thing you guys don't seem to be paying any attention to at all is proportions
None of the bipedal gen 1 mons (except Machoke) have proportions resembling a humans
Just look at Alakazam's arms they are so long they reach the floor while he's standing
Now Cinderace... literally has the EXACT proportions of a human
I don't know how anyone can deny this
