Gardevoir was featured in one of professor Oak’s holo caster segments, and there’s something interesting about its voice line. Gardevoir’s name in Japanese is the same as its name in Chinese, “sirnight” in both cases, but for some reason the Chinese version was redubbed. There was a Chinese person in the Youtube comments pointing out that the Gardevoir’s voice sounded much more feminine in the Chinese dub.

They changed the Gardevoir’s voice because it was a MALE voice. It was the first MALE Gardevoir ever to be heard in the anime. So the next time you see someone say “male Gardevoir aren’t acknowledged/canon”, just tell them about this one.
