aside that the originals looked worse? and were used everywhere? (every cave looked the same, Eterna Forest looked like a random route, etc)

didn't really need more when you realized you needed Red Blue and Yellow if you wanted to complete the dex in Yellow

Not true. This isn't one of those "Fuck Johto" threads. I recently played Platinum a couple months ago. I used to have a higher opinion of the game going off pure memory and nostalgia, but after playing the game for the first time in a decade came to those conclusions on my own.

Maybe Masuda's vision for this game was bad? I mean, he was the director of BDSP and he let that disaster through as well, maybe he wanted to make a really bad game. Maybe that's interesting artistically, but I think a lot of people would rather have a good game. Of course BW was him wanting to make a good game and it sold like shit in comparison to most first versions, and XY was kinda bland and sold better than BW but worse than DP, so maybe people do want to play bad video games. If so, bravo Masuda.

Have you played base DP recently as well? If not, then you don't actually have a proper perspective on it. Boot them up side by side and you might even find that just moving around in DP feels worse somehow even if it's not any slower or anything.
