I unironically want Gen 1 crit mechanics back. High critical hit ratio moves are mostly dogshit now and speed increasing your chances of a crit buffs some otherwise weak pokemon like Electrode.

If anything, Crits in Gen 1 were the most balance they have been in the series. Since they actually have a decent chance to happen and they ignore stat changes, the metagame is way bulkier (it has other factors that add to it as well, but still) as Sword Dance and Amnesia are not commonly seem. So when you do suddenly get a random x2 damage, it’s not as devistating since everything is so bulky. You also have to account for it more since it’s more common too, where as you almost never factor it in today.
