Yes, but it should also be able to soothe my autism by letting me move during cutscenes. I didn't mind oblivion cut scenes because I could jump around like an autist.

Any game that removes autonomy from the player to show a story point is essentially a poor story, as it's not captivating enough on its own.

I want them to either put the full, proper amount of effort into the story, OR have the story be a non-issue and have the game be a gym challenge, elite 4, and post-game area.
The early gens were pretty nice in that they really didn't have much of a story outside of the league and the evil teams. Just enough to goad the player along, but not enough to really get in the way much.

Pokemon should keep tons of dialogues, but make it work as optional content, like in Kantoooo

They don't even need to be good, just better. It's not that difficult either. SM had the best story and most people hated it so I understand why they don't bother with making stories better.

I would prefer to have a player driven story rather than a story where I'm just being pulled along cutscene by cutscene.

By player-driven, I mean that the story IS the player's journey, at least mostly. I don't mind having to stop the evil team or something a few times along the way

They could stand to be a little more realistic when it comes to human nature instead of showing the ultra idealistic aspects they want to share (bad guys are just misunderstood, people don't abuse their Pokemon, there is no inherently evil people, etc.)
It's irritating that the franchise is all sunshine and rainbows most of the time, and it executes it poorly when explaining why a team isn't all bad..

Honestly all they need to add is the ability to skip cutscenes and the arguments of "is the story even worth investing in" effectively become pointless because you wouldn't have to bother with it regardless if you're an autist who just wants to grind out your PVP and yet refuses to just use systems like Showdown to skip the tedium. So the solution is simple but somehow Game Freak still can't figure out something 99% of other games have figured out.

That said in a vacuum I think making the story better has almost no downsides, but when the best story writing we've gotten from Game Freak is somewhere between Gen 5 and Gen 7's quality, I have very little faith in their ability to actually make something compelling. The only reason to even buy the games is to have an adventure to explore a world and enjoy a story and Pokemon hasn't been delivering anything resembling quality on those at all.
