Are we going to ignore the fact that he's absolutely shit as a trainer? Imagine having almost your whole team wiped out by a single fucking RHYHORN. Ash isn't perfect, but at least he did a better job of evenly training his pokemon. Red's entire roster was filled with jobbers.
