This scene makes it clear that Lillie is into Elio, but not into Chicken. Gamefreak are notorious for cutting corners, so the fact that they'd change the dialogue here means that it was a very deliberate choice. Any rational person can read between the lines and see the implication, but it is still just an implication.
Yurifags will ship any 2 women regardless of canon. They can just accept what the canon is and choose to ignore it. But here, Lillie and Chicken being canonically gay is so tantalizingly close. The lack of an explicit confirmation means that they can't just ignore canon and move on. They obsess over this losing battle because it isn't entirely lost yet.
And as if to add insult to injury, "yuri" is literally Japanese for "lily".
