They're not going to be able to get away with Alain winning a second time. If they want Ash to lose, Leon can just beat him, as that's the fight that's been hyped all series.

Alain is here for one of three reasons

>They ran out of Champions needed to someone to fill the last slot in the Masters Eight
>To give Ash his revenge for Kalos (though it's hollow without Greninja)
>To lose to Leon's Gigantamax Charizard (think back to the Alain vs Trevor battle in XY)

That would honestly be a better use for Alain's character than just bringing him back for an empty rematch with Ash.

Maybe let him beat Steven or Diantha, then exit the tournament with dignity by losing to Leon
