There's no excuse when they are recycling assets and undoubtedly code -- as is standard in the industry. The mechanics hardly change between generations. These games are literally animated Microsoft Excel spreadsheets.
If they haven't developed a standardized format for Pokémon data that is portable between games by now, they are way too retarded to be gamedevs.
But it goes beyond Dexit shit. As these dudes go back on every appreciable design philosophy that they've expressed over the years, I wonder what is going on in their heads. I hope they either sort themselves out or retire and let fresh talent take over the game direction. I just want Pokémon to be enjoyable again.
