Where did pokemon end for you? For me it ends at gen 7. I'm pretty satisfied with the series even if I'm sad to see it go.

6. Gen 7 was a SOULLESS attempt at aping Yo-Kai Watch which was all for nothing anyway since Yo-kai Watch died anyway and Pokemon just went back to gym shit instead but no Elite Four this time. Ever since then Pokemon has been searching for a new identity but just can't commit to anything fully and half-heartedly tried and true tricks to get oldfags on board to keep coming back.

I wouldn't say it has ever really ended, just varied in quality like always. There were definitely drops like from gen 3 to 4 or 5 to 6, but then 7 and Legends were good, and SV look like they'll be fun too.

Gen 5 because it was the peak of Pokemon. 6 felt like a stumbling block, 7 was a weird attempt to out-do 5 that didn't work, and 8 is just embarrassing.

After Platinum. HGSS were great and the hype was real, but even back then while playing the games something felt off for me and it never got better.

LGPE. LGPE was basically a fully fledged fuck you to core fans of the series, and my interest in Pokemon cratered afterwards. It was a signal that the series was now FUBAR and would continue to get worse, and what do you know, I was right.
Gen 6 and Gen 7 were part of the decline but I still liked ideas, designs and mechanics from those games.

There hasn't been a single generation or game in this franchise that was flawless, they all have huges issues overall. But in older games, due to graphical limitations, we were still able to imagine the Pokemon world in ways that sparked joy and wonder.

But this got harder since the jump to 3D basically takes this away completely. The games do not look abstract enough anymore. You see them as they are. Your brain can't fill in any gaps, because there are none.

We are left with a discrepancy of what the Pokemon world was supposed to look like in our imagination, and how it actually does look right now.
