Is the average Pokemon fan even a kid anymore? It genuinely seems like they're in the 20's trying to recapture their youth with every new worse generation.

I'm open to being BTFO with actual statistics but from what I've seen IRL and on the Internet the average Pokemon fan is a full blown bill paying adult now.

You're pretty much right. The games aren't good enough on their own standing to catch new fans now. The sell purely off brand recognition, and the only people who still respect that brand are 20-30 yo who can't move on from something they loved before.

I imagine so. I live in Japan and stop into Poke enters every now and again when I'm near and 90% of the people inside are young children (maybe 4-6) with their parents. Sometimes it's a clearly Western tourist or a Japanese guy between 20-40, but the vast majority I see are young children.

I'll be straight up. I Haven't seen a kid play a Pokemon game period in probably a decade at this point. All of my younger nieces and nephews don't care about Pokemon either.

I don't understand how I'm supposed to think this is a series for kids when everyone I see playing it is in their 20's.

I was walking outside one day when one of the neighborhood kids excitedly complimented me on my shirt. I was confused at first, but then I remembered it had a pikachu on it. I think it's safe to say kids still have at least a passing attachment to the IP.

Midnight releases aren’t usually for kids. They are a first way access for hardcore fans. Most kids will have their parents either go pack up the game the following day or ask for it as a gift during birthdays or holidays. Why do you think most big Pokémon releases now target November?

Youre right. Pokemon go is the most popular game and the majority of players are adults, same for switch in general mostly adult players. Its an old franchise where most kids have better games for free, no way they play old school rpg. Theres also stats about which games are popular among children. Overall most players in general are adults. The only people who says kid play pokemon are shills defending the games. Ask any child you know if they have friends who plays pokemon, most youll get is pokemon and even then they are a minority.

Pokemon fans are forever in denial of this but you're right. They can't accept that most Pokemon fans are adults now because then they could no longer justify the games being easy and shallow. They'd have to admit that the adult Pokemon fanbase isn't ready for an actual JRPG.
