BW and B2W2 legacy was always amazing, genwunners and nostalgia babies ruined its reputation at the time, finally gets the attention and rating it deserves nowadays since we’ve gotten worse Pokemon games ever since

They are some of the most difficult games in the series; it's literally a toss up between them and Platinum for hardest main series game thanks to Challenge Mode.

It fixed a lot of the problem people had with Black and White, especially the main one that only Gen 5 can be found prior to the post-game. Plus it has some of the fan favourites in its dex including the Eeveelutions, Growlithe, Lucario, Flygon, Roserade, Heracross, Aggron, Absol, Gliscor, Starmie, Vulpix, Sneasel, Swinub, Metagross, and Tyranitar families.

It also re-added the move tutors that were missing from Black and White.

Has one of the best post-games in the series, which includes a Battle Facility, several extra routes to explore, The PWT which is the holy grail of nostalgia and post-game facilities, and the Blacktower/White Treehollow which is basically a cross between a bonus dungeon and a battle facility.

Introduced the Oval and Shiny charms which are a godsend for Breeders and Shiny hunters.

Hidden Grottos made finding hidden abilities much easier than previously. (Though future games have made things even more convenient.)

Memory Link which basically worked as an old save bonus if you played through Black and White.

Seriously though. This game is a masterpiece. I love all of it's pokemon design It deviates from the formula more than any other main series Pokemon game and it benefits so much from it. It has a connecting storyline to Black/White games. It actually IS a sequel! It has a beautiful combination of 2d sprites on 3d backdrops, and implements it perfectly into Gym puzzles and environments for a very immersive game feel. We now have triple battles as well!

BUT THATS NOT ALL!

Fully animated pokemon! Its not like two or three frames, either. FULL. ANIMATION. The attention to detail is amazing. It sparks new life and personality into the pokemon themselves, making you feel even more connected to them! Fuck, they even close their eyes when they are afflicted with Sleep! Everything just meshes so well together, resulting in a beautiful game. This is also aided by the seasons system.

This isn't even mentioning the RIDICULOUS difficulty level. This isn't your grandma's pokemon. The AI is smart. As you progress in the game, wild pokemon and trainers alike get stronger way faster. While you only get but so much exp per battle. This makes for some very tense battles, and really forces you to put some work into the game. I get that this is really artificial difficulty. But theres something to be said for a pokemon game being hard.

This is an absolute dogshit selling point. Returning the move tutors that were being held hostage until you bought the definitive third version is not a good thing. They did this shit in DP too, and it was infuriating. They continued to cut tutors from XY and SM, and it was bogus. It actually reflects well on FUCKING SWSH that they replaced the whole hustle with TRs that could be obtained in the base game. Those tutors should have been in BW, and you know it. This is not an indictment of BW in particular, but losing access to tutors at the start of each new generation only for them to be resold in the next game of the series was absolutely heinous.

Gen 5 didn't need the battle frontier because they had their own battle facilities:
Black Tower, White Tree Hollow, PWT, Battle Subway,(i can't remember if there was another battle facility or not)
-and all the facilities where great and unique i enjoyed all of them (actually even more than the battle frontier)

Black and White 2 got a huge amount of improvements from the originals such as new areas like the PWT, White Treehollow/Black Tower, Pokestar Studios and awesome side quests like Yancy/Curtis, fighting against the four girls who tried to take revenge against the one who got away, catching legendaries such as the Regi Trio and the rest is history. This game makes the post game experience is awesome.

They not only improved sufficiently, they overdid work on things that did not necessarily need replacement or upgrades. Hence the "drastic". It was a bigger list of changes than any generation previous, frankly, and every generation since. Gen 5 is the only gen other than the first to understand Tajiri's core message and want for the series, of kids catching bugs in the summer, not autistic manchildren who constantly hang onto the past, it's why the games did not do commercially well, because they refused to kowtow to the mouthbreather masses, despite the fact the games have the largest amount of quantity and quality in the franchise.

Join Avenue was based and had a lot to do. Ball seals were battle animations that you could choose, which Gen’s improved overall animations are a good replacement for. Pokestar and musicals together are better than contests, and medals are better than ribbons. Overworld poison damage is subjectively good. Dream world being dead doesn’t not mean it was ever bad imo.

Yes it is, because it's not even remotely comparable. Pokémon with ribbons retain them when transferred to newer generations where they are shown off when the Pokémon is thrown into battle. Pokémon also get titles based on your ribbons (Gen 8). If you had compared costumes to contests then maybe.

Well. the PWT does have a rental tournament as well, but it doesn't tell you anything about the opponent's team, and was based on pure luck that you chose the right teammates. Also, you couldn't steal one of the Pokemon of the defeated opponent after a match. There was also a Mix Tournament and that was new to the battling facilities. It was meant to be based on Mix Battles played wirelessly against other players, in the Union Room or over IR. That hasn't been introduced to the BF either.

I particularly liked the PWT in B/W2, especially when completing it would earn you a new colour on the Trainer Card. With the Battle Frontier - that's probably a bit boring because there's nothing you can really get out of it aside from BP. I'd probably say have the BF return first because it's easier to use, then move on to incorporating the PWT later down the chain.

plus the great thing about Black Tower/White Tree Hollow is unlike most battle facilities there is no level cap(so you can go over level 50)and you actually get exp when beating opponents that's why i love Black Tower so much 10 levels of challenge and after defeating each floor you get a random prize(sometimes you even get Max Revives or Rare Candies which are great and like i said you get exp) i believe the only other battle facility that give exp is the Battle Chateau but only the one on route 7 the one in Kiloude City doesn't give exp and the Battle Chateau in ORAS[which replaced the battle frontier] doesn't give exp either. so only 3 battle facilities give exp Black Tower, White Tree Hollow, and Battle Chateau on Route

That's exactly why it's fucking shit though. I don't want to level up and trivialize just because I'm overleveled. They could have just made it like the battle pyramid and make it so that everything is the same level. Then they could tweak shit and give a proper challenge by having later floors have pokemon that are overleveled compared to you

I mean, the modern games are the ones being designed around players with less time for video games. Post-game content is made lite now because most players will just move on to other things after the credits. Training and PvP features have been made increasingly intuitive so that you no longer have to waste time grinding out invisible numbers. Pokemon GO encouraged people to do stuff outside. etc.
