Disagree, this is a series that from day one already had absurd shit like blonde big lip black woman and mime monster, nothing the Galar starters do is more absurd than that, thus being ugly is still worse, and Gen 5 starters are masters of being ugly. I straight up saw Emboar and Seperior toys shelfwarming in toy stores deep into Gen 6, something I haven't seen happen since.

I was pretty hyped when I saw the Gen 7 starters because I thought the base forms looked pretty solid. I can't tell how disappointed I was at the final forms but it made me skip Sword/Shield, and it seems like I did the right choice

I take bland but inoffensive any day. Gen 2 starters are bland as fuck but they end up being way better than most 3D era starters. Rillaboom sucks but I still think I'd go with him if I was forced to choose since I can at least kinda squint and imagine him as a better starter.
