Is your favorite pokemon from Gen 2 or higher?
If yes, do you still enjoy older games that don't have your favorite pokemon?

Latias is my fav, but I'm not a big fan of Red/Blue/Yellow and Gold/Silver/Crystal because they didn't have her yet.

Honestly people will call me zoomer for this, but Gen 5 is sort of a sweet spot when it comes to Pokemon. It's frustrating to play Gen 1 because the backsprites are buttugly, the item bag sucks, the game is too short, and the routes are bland. It's frustrating to play Gen 2 because the box system forces you to save every time. It's frustrating to play Gen 3 because there's no physical special split. It's frustrating to play Gen 4 because it's too slow. Gen 5, on the other hand, has the right balance of modern QoL features and old-style game design making them ideal.

Kanto is bland in any iteration and the routes mostly suck. FRLG and LGPE are better than the originals because they haven't aged as poorly, but they're worse as new games because the original RBY innovative for the time they were released while FRLG and LGPE are just rehashes.

To be fair all those games have superior remakes that latias does exist in
As for me my favorite is Espeon and I'm not particularly bothered when eevee isn't obtainable in a game but if eevee is I usually use an Espeon

haven't got a favorite, but almost every candidate is from gen 3+ yes.

I don't enjoy gens 1-2 for reasons unrelated to selection. There's just too much antiquated about them for me to go back easily, so I prefer gens 3+

I enjoy gens 2-4 and 6 the most, pokemon selection isn't an issue for me since I have at least a few favorites from every gen and like using pokemon I haven't before, it's the overall feel of the game that matters more to me.
