I like the battle frontier and even I can admit it's obvious most of the people crying about it never actually played it. Playing online PvP is effectively the same thing but better. And guess what, SS has a Battle Facility added in the DLC but NO ONE fucking talks about it because NO ONE plays battle facilities.

I only like the Factory, efforting in Gen 3 is bad and getting (as) perfect (as possible) IVs is even more, at least the Factory offers and uses rental mons (even the Brain uses rentals).

Playing online doesn't have gimmicks. It's just a slow online battle that takes 15 minutes. Showdown does PVP better. Battle Frontier can only be experienced in Emerald/Platinum.

yeah I love gimmicks like "battle tower except you have to stop a roulette which gives you a massive advantage" and "battle tower except you get to see the opponent's team and skip a bunch of matches" and "battle tower except characters from old games are copy/pasted into the game"

The problem is even if the battle frontier is as bad as you insist, they never replaced it with anything. They could've BTFO'd everyone and had all kinds of fun battle facility content in SWSH but it's just battle tower.

I want new, fun, creative content. That's what the battle frontier was. It genuinely amazed me as a kid playing something entirely new in the series and it gave me so much hope going forward. I had no idea the future would be much more boring by comparison.

The only thing truly unusable at this point is Dream World I think, everything else has fan servers. But yes, your point is entirely valid, I think that making things dependant on the internet is shit design and makes your game age terribly. It's similar to how the games have timed events that last for like a month or so, except the entire game is a timed event and I have a few years to enjoy it to its fullest extent. I shouldn't have to rely on fan servers and shit. Just look at games like PSO on the Dreamcast, you can't even really play it anymore without a lot of setup. Just look at Scarlet and Violet. I guarantee one or two big features are gonna be locked behind that online 4 player mode and once the switch gets succeeded it won't be available.

I love R/S/E and OR/AS. I never gave two shits about the battle frontier. All pokemon battle facilities cheat.
The only good ones have been the World Tournament and Black Tower which should have been series staples, but you know how gamefreak is.

I like the idea if being gated out of half the mons, and the game ends, and suddenly you have a huge new set of pokemon to play with.

Emerald did that somewhat with ampharos, houndoom, donphan, forretress, and miltank but obviously the best one is houndoom because its the best dark type with the most powerful dark move (crunch)

The entire post game platinum was great and i feel like you don't miss out on many great mons that aren't starters.

Finally hgss was saved by johto and kanto evolutions. I wish they would've done more but theres still good options for a 3 pokemon team.

Raids suck. They aren't even really a battle facility, you just beat in some dumb Pokemon with retarded NPC partners for a 1% chance to catch it. Same for the dynamax adventure (genuinely forgot the name of it because of how boring it was)

And as stated multiple times already, PVP is not a substitute for single player content.

honestly just adding the battle factory would be enough, i played a bunch of SwSh battle tower just because they give you a few rental teams to play around with

it's annoying that they have one of most indepth and customisable battle systems in any rpg and they literally do nothing interesting with it in most of their games

I didn't like all of the facilities in the frontier, but I don't get why people want it gone instead of just improving it. They say the that the battle tower is enough and just play online, but the tower is the one that's made obsolete by online, not the other facilities. You can't get something like the Battle Pyramid online.

Imagine a rougelike battle facility similar to Battle Pyramid mixed with Pokemon Crater (Google it, zoomers), but with roaming NPCs or even online players. Having to run around and build your team before being challenged by someone with a better team would be so fun. Picking up good hold items and quickly deciding which Pokemon will benefit from it the most.

Imagine it with all 900 Pokemon we have now, truly testing your knowledge of every Pokemon up to this point.

Kalos and Gen 6 and XY were terrible and marked a definitive turning point where the pokemon franchise became nu-pokemon for the 3DS and dropping sprites for the new generation of children.

Problem is part of the fun of the battle facility is the fucking facility. Presentation goes a long way. Battle Frontier is a fucking awesome island with weird looking buildings just inviting you in for fun. Shills keep forgetting exploration and adventure is part of the series and the BF knocks that out of the park compared to other battle facilities.

The Battle Frontier is overrated. The main reason why I don't like it is because it is full of NFE Pokemon that you have to defeat BEFORE the battles start getting challenging. Then, after you lose, you have to start all over again and battle shitty NFE Pokemon again for hours. It's just not fun.

Compare this to BDSP's Battle Tower Master Class, where you start facing the strongest opponents from the very beginning. It's just much better.

Obviously the battle frontier isn't perfect, but it was a great idea that should've been improved on. Not neutered and then done away with entirely, and even worse, not included in ORAS.

People want fun, challenging single player content and that's what the BF was. Nothing has since come close.

I disagree. I think it's a matter of quality over quantity. I think modern Battle Towers (particularly the BDSP Battle Tower and the USUM Battle Tree) are more fun than the Battle Frontiers of Emerald and Platinum/HGSS.

I do appreciate the variety of gimmicks that the Frontier offered, especially in Emerald, (because the Platinum/HGSS Battle Frontier was a downgrade) but in the end of the day, most of them were too same-y. I would say that the Battle Pyramid is the only facility that stands out as properly unique. I also really liked the Battle Dome, but the PWT did it better.

The Battle Frontier was pretty cumbersome with its heavy reliance on hax, but still should've been included in ORAS as a part of Gen 3's identity. I don't know why they would take the time to update fucking Contests, or overhaul the entire Secret Base system, and then neglect the other big feature of Gen 3. It might have even benefited from XY's various improvements to team building and EV Training.

I particularly liked the PWT in B/W2, especially when completing it would earn you a new colour on the Trainer Card. With the Battle Frontier - that's probably a bit boring because there's nothing you can really get out of it aside from BP. I'd probably say have the BF return first because it's easier to use, then move on to incorporating the PWT later down the chain.
I feel that it had more to distinguish its matches, unlike Battle Frontier, which got repetitive, in my opinion, despite all the many ways of battling.
the PWT does have a rental tournament as well, but it doesn't tell you anything about the opponent's team, and was based on pure luck that you chose the right teammates. Also, you couldn't steal one of the Pokemon of the defeated opponent after a match. There was also a Mix Tournament and that was new to the battling facilities. It was meant to be based on Mix Battles played wirelessly against other players, in the Union Room or over IR. That hasn't been introduced to the BF either.
B2W2 has a battle tower like feature(Subway) , battle dome(PWT).
Guess you could call the Black tower/White treehollow a less interactive battle quest ,and the PWT Rental as the Factory.
So 4 facilities not that bad.

I half agree with that but the things that suck about PvP is that there are no changes to the battle mechanics other than restrictions on what Pokemon you can use and sometimes moves.
I seriously enjoyed the Battle Pike and the Battle Dome, so much so that I am making a Pokemon Showdown gamemode with a companion server for commands to emulate the Battle Dome in controlled environments. I even liked Palace and Arena for that matter due to the changes in mechanics and how they relate to what moves you use. The recent facilities, like Restricted Sparring and Dynamax Adventures might be other people's cup of tea, I personally find both to be boring and I have a very good record in Endless Dynamax Adventures with 50 something wins. RS I barely played because I didn't like the mechanics of having a limited number of heals, made it feel like a very ingenuine facility where they decided type restrictions were not enough. I also thought that there'd be other things like NFE battle modes, regional restrictions, etc, but they didn't do any of that either. Just because they're in the game as extra facilities do not make them good, see the Battle Hall of gen 4 or the Battle Factory.

Just 3 balanced offensive Pokémon and a bit of conservation in Battle Castle, and Battle Frontier was a piece of cake. However, in PWT there is ALL the types to consider as the Gym Leaders have extremely varied teams and competitive movesets/ items that can prove to ve quite challenging. Making a team for PWT is fun and never got old for me.

People talk up and down about the Battle Frontier but the World Tournament was always my jam.

Being able to take on trainers from previous gens with up to date teams was great on it's own but then also factoring in being able to use your old teams from those same previous gens thanks to transferring them up and then also mixing and matching them and it was just such a huge nostalgia trip if you set it up right.
I think PWT IS BETTER

Clearing the PWT is honestly the best battle facility experience in the series, especially getting through the monotype tournaments.
That's the thing people don't mention often when discussing the PWT, you're obligated to catch and raise multiple Pokemon to actually 100% it. And while it's always a set group of opponents, that means you're free to come up with a proper strategy to beat them. I remember transferring in a Lanturn to beat the water tourney because Misty's Starmie is a bitch otherwise. And the freedom to choose the battle format adds an extra layer.
