Havent played it yet, as barebones as the actual environments seem I love the Meiji-Era aesthetic the game has and the character designs are nice, wish it would go on sale but first/second party switch games always stay high

It would be nice if this became its own series, exploring history of the world without being confined to the formula. Also make true prequels instead of the time travel shit.

It's the skeleton of a decent game marred by Game Freak's insistence on keeping that 26-year-old handheld RPG interaction aesthetic alive on modern hardware.

If the player character had a basic jump and the dodge roll was an actual airborne dive that left the ground a la Mario 64 instead of a ground-based sprint disguised as a dive with a fancy animation it'd be a pretty solid foundation.
