That's it, they survived mainly due to blind luck and circumstance. Anyone claiming that these Pokemon are inherently better needs to get over themselves.
Also, the ONLY reason they aren't isn't because Legends was because there's no PvP so there would be no reason for them to get another special snowflake form, so they picked the Legends starters based on thematics rather than favoritsm.
