The real explanation is that divergent opinions are usually drowned out by the consensus. On release when discussion is at its peak, you're generally going to see people either being very positive or very negative on something -- especially on the internet. Some people with an opinion that goes against the majority simply won't bother posting at all. So the ratio of for/against posts is pretty heavily skewed in one direction.
But five years later? The discussion has died down enough to the point where the consensus isn't really as clear anymore. You'll have new fans coming to the game, and people feeling more free to speak up now that they know their post isn't going to get dogpiled by the majority.
Seriously though, why would your thoughts on a Pokemon game change drastically after another playthrough? It's not like they're games that could hit you differently on an emotional level. They're incredibly simple games, and their stories are all utter trash. The games live or die on the world design, and the quality of the regional dex.
My opinions on Pokemon games have never really changed from release, outside of a few where they're hard to go back to due to the lack of certain QoL improvements.
I didn't like BW on release, and still dislike it now.
I liked XY on release, and still like it now.
I thought ORAS was disappointing but decent on release, and still think it's decent now.
I didn't like SM on release, and still dislike it now.
