It sucks because I love LGPE's aesthetics and riding around on an Arcanine exploring Kanto is literally a childhood fantasy of mine. I wanted it so bad in a Pokemon game but the Go style catching mechanics is a no sell for me. So close to my perfect game yet so far away. Tears in the rain man.

He didn't direct it beyond telling the ILCA director what his thoughts and feelings behind his choices were.
He didn't lie when he said Let's Go would be his last time in the Director's chair and the fact he was listed as executive director proves he wasn't at the coal-face making that game again (nor did he remake any in Gen 4 or 6 personally).

Because it has the smallest scope and thus is the only game that could actually be properly finished with Pokemon's 2-3 year dev cycles.

yeah I agree, the overworld is super polished though I'd personally want the size of kanto expanded like proportionally speaking. everything else sucks. Despite how easy and meaningless shinies are from this game I do love the hunting mechanics it's relaxing

just play it, anon. i did. the mechanics were gimmicky and fun but it's ok because pokemon gen 1 has been released many, many times. if you want that kind of experience just play those.
